Brig grew up in Grand Junction, Colorado and then attended the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, earning a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, along with a commission as a Coast Guard Officer. After successful service, Brig made the transition to civilian life as a teacher at an inner-city San Diego school. Brig returned to Grand Junction and has taught math in high school and in middle school, and classroom management to adults at Colorado Christian University. He has served as an assistant principal and is currently the principal of Fruita Middle School. He enjoys racquetball and family camping with his wife, Kim, and three girls.
